  • Kylian Mbappe's hard luck in front of the goal continued unabated for Paris Saint-Germain
  • Despite Mbappe's shortcomings, Messi will play an instrumental role in helping PSG return to winning ways
  • Before the game against Nice, the 24-year-old criticized PSG for excessively using him during a promotional video for next season's tickets

Kylian Mbappe failed to arrest his barren run, blanking in Paris Saint-Germain's 2-0 victory against OGC Nice on Saturday evening.

He led the attack for Christophe Galtier's charges alongside Lionel Messi, who was jeered by some section of the club's fanbase.

Unfortunately, he would endure a nightmarish time in front of the goal when he skied an effort from close range.

Receiving a pass from Messi, the 24-year-old took a touch to reposition himself and get a better view of the goal, but his effort flew above the crossbar, underlining his recent decline in form.

PSG return to winning ways

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Nice 2-0 on Saturday to restore their six-point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table and relieve pressure on coach Christophe Galtier. Lionel Messi scored one goal and assisted Sergio Ramos in another.

Gianluigi Donnarumma made several crucial saves, and Dante was denied by the woodwork as PSG's goal enjoyed a charmed life on the Cote d'Azur after Messi finished a Nuno Mendes cross in the 26th minute.

Ramos then ended any doubt about the outcome when he headed in a Messi corner with 14 minutes remaining, as PSG bounced back from suffering consecutive home defeats.

Mbappe slams PSG

Sports Brief previously reported that Kylian Mbappe is displeased with Paris Saint-Germain’s excessive use of his image rights following the club’s new campaign to promote ticket sales for the 2023/24 season.

The 24-year-old has revealed he was not contacted before the Ligue 1 champions released a video to advertise the sale of next season's tickets online.

Mbappe, the club’s top scorer this season with 31 goals and eight assists in 34 appearances across competitions, has now released a statement condemning the act by PSG.
