There was a moment of great concern in a Motsepe Foundation Championship encounter between Black Leopards and Casric Stars at Malamulele Stadium in Limpopo.

Leopards forward Tiklas Thutlwa reportedly collapsed during the encounter that would eventually end in a 1-1 draw.

According to FARPost, it is believed that the brutally hot weather conditions eventually overwhelmed Thutlwa. Medical personnel responded immediately to the stricken player, who was not taken to the hospital.

“What happened is that he got winded. The ball hit him full on his chest, so he collapsed He was hit right in the middle of his chest, so he will obviously go for an ECG [electrocardiogram test] to be checked out properly and make sure he is fine.
"He is fine now, and he was there during the duration of the match. There was no need for him to go to the hospital. The boy got his wind back, but that was very early in the game, so we had to take him out.”

The incident happed less than two weeks after the tragic death of Richards Bay FC player Siphamandla Mtolo, who collapsed during a training session.

Siphamandla Mtolo laid to rest

Richards Bay FC captain Siphamandla Mtolo has been laid to rest.

He was buried in his hometown of Shakaskraal in the Ilembe District Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal. 'Spepe', as he was fondly known, collapsed during a practice last week, before dying on the way to the hospital. The cause of his death has not yet been revealed.

The death of Siphamandla Mtolo has stung the local football fraternity.

The Richards Bay FC midfielder collapsed and passed on during training. His coach Vasili Manousakis has relived the last few moments of 'Spepe's' life with sadness.

Pirates superfan Dejan Miladinovic dies

Sports Brief also reported that in other tragic news, Orlando Pirates superfan, Dejan Miladinovic has passed away.

The Serbian national became a popular figure for religiously attending fixtures of the Buccaneers and Bafana Bafana.

Miladinovic had been admitted to the Chris Hani-Baragwanath Hospital a month earlier for an unknown ailment.
