Popular Ghanaian singer, Black Sherif paid an emotional tribute to former Black Stars winger, Christian Atsu during a performance in the United Arab Emirates.

The singer, commonly referred to as Blacko, took his stage craft to another level after pausing amid his performance to sing Bob Marley's Redemption Song for the fallen hero.

Atsu tragically died following the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6, with his body recovered 12 days after being trapped under rubble.

In a video shared on social media, Black Sherif is seen melodiously performing his own rendition of the Bob Marley classic in honour of Atsu.

The crowd at the Wireless Festival cheered on as Blacko paid his last respects to his late countryman.

Atsu's final funeral and burial will be held on March 17 at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.

The former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger enjoyed a stellar Black Stars career which saw him make 65 appearances and score nine goals for the national team.

His last involvement in the game was in Hatayspor's victory over Kasimpasa. Atsu scored the winning goal hours before disaster struck.

The ex-Black Stars man had to be consoled by former Ghana goalkeeper, Richard Kingson as he tried valiantly to rein his emotions in.

Several ex-footballers and teammates arrived at the Ajiringanor School park to pay respects to Atsu before his final funeral on March 17.

Partey pays tribute to Atsu

Ghana international, Thomas Partey brought Arsenal back from the brink after scoring in the comeback win over AFC Bournemouth.

Following a tense clash at the Emirates Stadium, Partey dedicated his game-winning goal and the win to his late countryman, Atsu.

Atsu tragically passed away last month following the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria, which claimed over 50,000 lives.
