Former Asante Kotoko forward, Joseph Amoako has been sentenced to two years in prison in Sweden.

The 20-year-old attacker, who was on the books of Helsingborgs IF until his conviction, has reportedly been found guilty of sexual assault.

According to expressen.se, the youngster was accused of the crime after having an encounter with a 16-year-old female.

Amoako is said to have met the teenager through social media and gave her match tickets for one of Helsingborgs' games. He later invited her to his home for a party.

The Ghanaian will serve a two-year sentence in Sweden and will be deported immediately after his time is served.

Amoah will only be able to return to the Scandinavian country after 10 years have passed.

This will be the third time a Ghanaian player has gone through such an incident, with Kwame Bonsu and Kingsley Sarfo also sentenced to jail time for the same offence.

GhanaSoccernet reported that the player's contract was cancelled following his sentence.

Amoako initially joined Helsingborgs IF on loan from Asante Kotoko before his move was made permanent after impressing the technical handlers of the club.

Joseph Amoako joins Helsingborg

Sports Brief previously reported on Kumasi Asante Kotoko winger, Amoako joining Swedish Allvenskan side, Helsingborg IF on loan for the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old attacker moved to the top flight side after just six months since joining the Porcupine Warriors from lower-tier Ghana side, Red Bull FC.

Helsingborg formally announced the signing of the teen sensation and have the option of making the deal a permanent one at the end of his loan spell.

Kotoko sign Brazilian striker

Ghana Premier League champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko have announced the signing of Brazilian forward, Matheus Medeiros De Souza.

The forward joins the Porcupine Warriors on a six-month deal with the option of extending for a further year.

De Souza is expected to boost the attack of the Reds, as they seek to defend the title they won last season.
