As per iDiski Times, Tanzania's president Samia Suluhu Hassa was pictured handing over a fat wad of cash following a CAF Confederations Cup encounter that they had won 1-0 against Ugandan team Vipers FC. He had promised SC Simba and Young Africans SC five Tanzanian shillings ($2 135) for each goal they scored in African club competitions. This was to inspire the two giants from Dar es Salaam after they had a poor start in the Confederations Cup and Champions League.

Government spokesperson Gerson Msigwa said:

“Our president understands the importance of sports in the country and has given that motivation as our teams play international matches. Now it is the job of Simba and Yanga players to score as many goals as possible in order to put Tanzania in a good position in the competitions.”
