- Liverpool destroyed Manchester United with a slick performance at Anfield on Sunday
- Jurgen Klopp's side scored seven times to sweep aside a Man United side on a great run
- It was a record-setting evening for Mohamed Salah with the new signings starring as well
No one could have seen this coming. Not even in Jurgen Klopp's wildest dreams could he have imagined that he could record a victory of such a margin against Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag's side have been on ascendancy since suffering back-to-back defeats at the start of the season and a trophy win last weekend was a testament to how far they have come.
But to echo Peter Drury's words, what was not supposed to happen, happened. The unthinkable did happen; a 7-0 scoreline.
The goals kept coming. Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez each bagged braces, with Roberto Firmino adding a late one.

Fans react to United thumping
"This humbling was desperately needed."
@ForeverBlue_07 , a Chelsea fan, said:
"Their title hopes lasted as long as we did in the top 4 this season."
"Thank you, Liverpool for restoring order."
Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher chimed in with a thinly-veiled attack on Lisandro Martinez
I’ll gladly accept the apologies off Yanited fans about Lisandro Martinez!
Reacting after the game, ten Hag expressed his dissatisfaction with his side's performance.
"You can lose a game, but not in this way. Also, the second half is... unprofessional. That is not Manchester United. It can't happen. We have to talk about it. I saw 11 individuals losing their heads. This was not Manchester United."
Salah sets new record
Sports Brief has also reported on Salah becoming Liverpool's top scorer of all-time in the Premier League after scoring a brace in the massacre of Man United.
The Egyptian forward scored twice at Anfield to equal and break Robbie Fowler's 128 goals haul in the English top flight league for the embattled Reds.
Salah has now netted an impressive 129 goals in 203 Premier League games since joining the club in 2017 from Fiorentina.
