Micah Richards believes Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has done enough to be in the running for a Player of the Season award.

With 12 games remaining to end the season, the Black Stars midfielder has been crucial to Arsenal's outstanding campaign.

The Gunners are currently top of the table and five points adrift of champions Manchester City.

"Arsenal's Thomas Partey could have been in there, and Brentford striker Ivan Toney had a shout too. Harry Kane keeps on scoring goals for Tottenham as well. Those three were very close," said Richards on BBC, as quoted by Footballghana.com.

Partey joined Arsenal in the summer of 2020 but struggled in his first two season due to niggling injuries.

This season, Arsenal have lost only a game with the former Atletico Madrid star in the line up.

Arsenal are also in contention to win the Europa League after reaching the last 16 of the competition.

Evra wades into Partey vs Casemiro argument

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has rubbished claims that Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is better than Brazilian star Casemiro.

Both players are having an outstanding season, with Arsenal sitting top of the English Premier League table while the Red Devils stay in contention of winning the quadruple.

Meanwhile, United's Premier League ambitions were dealt a huge blow after the 7-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

Partey dedicates goal to Atsu

Ghana international, Thomas Partey sparked life into Arsenal after scoring in the Gunners' comeback win over AFC Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium.

He dedicated his goal and the win to late Ghanaian footballer, Christian Atsu.

Atsu tragically passed away last month following the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria, which claimed over 50,000 lives.
