- Harambee Stars vs Mozambique finished 1-0 in favour of the visitors

- Amânsio Canhembe scored the only goal that separated the two teams

- Wanyama now rues Kenya's missed goalscoring chances during the clash

Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has broken his silence following the national football team's 1-0 defeat to Mozambique during an international friendly at Kasarani Stadium.

Wanyama was making a return to the team after missing Stars' 1-1 draw against Uganda back in September, with Japan-based striker Michael Olunga assuming the captaincy role then.

However, his return made little impact, despite Francis Kimanzi's men dominating the opening exchanges of the Sunday, October 13, encounter.

The hosts' best goalscoring chances came in the second half, but Jesse Were and Whyvonne Isuza fluffed the opportunities.

Amânsio Canhembe would later break the deadlock in the 68th minute, with his goal resulting from a defensive blunder.

Wanyama has now rued Stars' missed chances in the match, asserting the team's general performance was impressive.

"The performance was not bad we pick positives and I think we had a lot of chances," the Tottenham midfielder told Futaa.
"But we were unlucky not to score, we made one mistake and that's how we got punished," he added.

Kenya will now turn their focus to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers, with a trip to Egypt on the cards.
