  • Arsenal secured a stunning 3-2 win over Bournemouth to restore their five-point lead over Manchester City
  • The Gunners had to come from two goals down to beat the Cherries with practically the last kick of the game
  • But rival fans believe “the game is rigged” as the Gunners scored in the seventh minute of added time despite the referee adding on just six minutes

Arsenal’s sensational win over Bournemouth on Saturday, March 4 has left sections of fans declaring the “game is rigged”.

Reiss Nelson scored a beauty in the seventh minute of stoppage time as Mikel Arteta’s side came from two goals down to claim all three points against a determined Bournemouth side.

The Cherries had initially taken the lead barely 10 seconds into the game through Phillip Billing, and against the odds, it was 2-0 in the 57th minute thanks to a smart header from Marco Senesi.

But the Gunners, who are now showing marks of Premier League champions, pulled one back through Thomas Partey, who poked home from close range.

Defender Ben White then made it 2-2 after striking Nelson’s deep cross first time, with referee Christopher Kavanagh giving the goal after it initially looked like Neto had clawed the ball away from goal, as reported on BBC.

Arteta’s side pushed for a winner and it came deep in stoppage time, as a poor clearance from a corner by Bournemouth enable Nelson to curl in a strike that sent the Emirates into wild celebration.

“Something isn’t right”

The comeback win must have rubbed rival fans the wrong way as they were quick to point out flaws in Arsenal’s victory.

Fans noted that before six minutes of added time was signaled, Arteta appeared to gesture for seven minutes to the fourth official.

The fact that Nelson’s goal was scored in the seventh minute of added time led to fans saying the same thing.

“Arteta is here begging for +7, that goal shouldn't count!” One fan declared.

“Added time 6 minutes, but your referees connived with Arteta to make it 7 minutes. Obviously, you know something we don’t know.” Another added,
“Asking for 7 mins and he got it. Shameless.” Said another fan.
