Mason Greenwood has reportedly held the first meeting with Manchester United bosses. This is the first meeting the striker has had since his sexual assault charges were dropped at the start of the month.

The dropping of his charges by the Crown Prosecution Services paved the way for a potential return to professional football. He is still contracted by Manchester United until 2025, with the club deciding to take precautionary steps in what can be a very delicate situation.

The club promised to undertake its internal investigations before providing the next steps, and now, as the Sun reports, the investigations are now in full swing. Greenwood and his representatives are said to have met with the senior club officials.

What was discussed

Details of the meeting remain scanty, with no clear timeline provided for Manchester United's processes. It is, however, reported that the officials want to hear Greenwood's side of the story before deciding on what next steps to take.

The club is already facing pressure from within after it was reported that members of the women's team are uncomfortable with the 21-year-old being reintroduced into the fold.

Ten Hag talks to Greenwood

This comes at a time when ten Hag provided the first indications that he might be willing to welcome him back to his first-team squad.

Sports Brief reported that Greenwood talked with ten Hag in a private phone conversation. The publication indicated that the head coach explained to the striker that his chances of coming back into the fold rested with the club and not him(ten Hag).

It is also the first time that ten Hag has talked to Greenwood since taking over the club last summer. Earlier communications had been done through a third party.

Greenwood set to become a dad

Sports Brief has also reported that Manchester United ace Mason Greenwood is reportedly set to become a dad for the first time just weeks after he had assault charges against him dropped.

It has been a difficult year for Greenwood, who has not played football for more than a year after he was charged with assault.
