Lionel Messi's potential return to Barcelona has been warmly received by the club's manager, Xavi Hernandez.
The Argentine exited the Camp Nou to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in 2021, emotionally ending his 21-year career with La Blaugrana.
With the 35-year-old's current contract at the Parisians nearing expiration, he has been linked with a possible return to his old stomping grounds amid uncertainty surrounding his future.
But Xavi, who shared the same dressing room as Messi for over a decade before transitioning into coaching, approves of the veteran's possible return to Catalonia.

“[Messi] knows that this is his home and the doors are open for him," Xavi said, as quoted by PSG Report.
"He’s my friend, and we are in constant contact. A return will only depend on him & what he wants to do. [Messi is] the best player in history. He’d always fit in.”
While endorsing the rumoured return of Messi to Camp Nou, Xavi will be aiming to go past Manchester United in the second leg of their Europa League play-off tie, per SB Nation.
