Southampton captain, James Ward-Prowse has revealed that the players will get their interim manager, Ruben Selles a new suit.

The Spanish head coach replaced Nathan Jones, who was sacked last week following a spate of poor performances amid the club's relegation fears.

A Ward-Prowse free kick right at the end of the first half was enough to lift the club's spirits and pile more misery on Graham Potter.

The Saints' captain scored his 17th direct free kick in the Premier League, moving him closer to David Beckham's total of 18. He is arguably the division's best dead ball specialist.

Speaking after the game, the midfielder said:

"He has given us real stability and a calmness. That is what we have needed. It’s a young squad, so to be able to deal with those things are difficult, but he has given us a familiar way of playing. I wasn’t too sure about the suit when we saw it in the meeting. He joked in the pre-match meeting that we would have to buy him a new suit if we won," as quoted by the Sun.

Selles will be hoping to impress the Southampton hierarchy to keep the job on a permanent basis. Despite the win, they are still bottom with just 18 points.

Azpilicueta injury update

Sports Brief has also reported on Chelsea skipper, Cezar Azpilicueta discussing the injury he suffered in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Spanish defender was part of the Blues' starting XI that took on bottom-placed Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

He was stretchered off the field with an oxygen mask after a stray boot from the Saints' Sekou Mara accidentally caught him full in the face.
