According to One Football, Jorge Messi has claimed that the PSG superstar’s return to Barcelona is not possible this summer, pouring cold water on his son’s imminent return to Camp Nou.

Barcelona’s Financial Fair Play problems could be one of the reasons the Catalan club would have it very difficult to sign Messi when he becomes a free agent in the summer.

The relationship between Messi and Laporta could also be another reason as it is understood to have broken down after the way the PSG star had to leave the club.

PSG and Messi’s contract talks stall

Meanwhile, the first face-to-face negotiations for Lionel Messi's contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain ended in failure after both parties failed to reach an agreement, Marca reports.

Jorge, Messi’s father and representative met for the first time in person with PSG’s sporting director Luis Campos and there was no agreement in that first instance.

PSG are proposing a one-year renewal for Messi although the World Cup winner is also being courted by former club Barcelona and MLS side Inter Miami.

Messi not to play for Argentina again

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Lionel Messi has been urged by former Barcelona star, Bernd Schuster to preserve his legacy by retiring from international football.

The Paris Saint-Germain superstar scored seven goals including a brace in the final against France as Argentina ended their 36-year wait to win the World Cup again.

Schuster explained the reason behind his unusual request is that people should remember Messi winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as his last act for La Albiceleste.
