Ghanaian female footballer, Priscilla Okyere has opened up on her horrific experience following the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

Having survived the disaster, Okyere is currently in Ankara while a rescue team continues the search for Christian Atsu.

Narrating her experience, Okyere claimed she could barely sleep and was worried about her male counterpart's wellbeing.

“I have not been sleeping for four days - I'm so scared to go to sleep,” Okyere told BBC Sport Africa. “Even today, [when] we had a safe place to sleep, I haven't closed my eyes from 5am until now."
“When someone bangs the door, I wake up because I'm scared. I don't want to close my eyes and realise this thing is happening again.”

Atsu has been trapped under rubble for the past four days and hopes of him getting rescued alive seems to be slowly fading away.

“We don't know anything about the men's team because they live far from us, even though we live in the same city," she explained. “But our brother, Atsu, we always talk to him on phone. He texts us all the time."

Okyere said that since the disaster, his whereabouts were not known and no one seemed to have answers.

The Black Stars forward had scored the winner just a few hours before the 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit Turkey and Syria. Many lives have been lost and many others are still missing.

Okyere holds faith in Atsu's rescue, but wants to return home and take a break from the game.

Christian Atsu still missing

Sports Brief also reported on officials of Turkish Super Lig club, Hatayspor confirming Atsu is yet to be found, 48 hours after he was trapped under rubble following the earthquake.

On Tuesday, reports were circulated stating the 31-year-old winger had been found alive, after being rescued from the collapsed ruins of the team's residence in Turkey.

However, the latest information trickling in from the club stated the Ghanaian player was still trapped in the wreckage along with sporting director, Taner Savut.
