Former chairman of the Ghana Football Association, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has vowed to fight the decision to extend the tenure of presidency from two to three terms.

There have been reports that the top hierarchy of the current administration are considering extending the tenure as chief of the country's FA.

Dr Nyaho-Tamkloe is against the move and believes staying for long periods as head of the association will breed dictatorship.

“I feel that is a wrong way to go because it will create a dictatorship, which will rather worsen the performance of the leader,” he told the Graphic Sports, as quoted by Pulse.

''One of the reasons why Kwesi Nyantakyi failed, was because he allowed the serving of the FA President's term in the Statutes to be unlimited,” he added.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said there were reasons for timelines to be attached to certain positions, as in the case of leaders of countries.

"That is why in the US when you serve two terms, you don't serve again, and the same applies to our Constitution here in Ghana. I'll fight anybody who will say it should be changed from two terms to three terms in our Constitution as far as Ghana is concerned."

Meanwhile, officials from the Ghana FA are yet to confirm the reports of the extension.

Current President, Kurt Okraku took over as country's football boss in 2019, following the fall of the Kwesi Nyantakyi administration.

Nyaho-Tamakloe on Ghana's CHAN exit

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on former Chairman of the GFA, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe claiming most of Ghana's players sent to Algeria for CHAN were older than 35.

The Black Galaxies were shockingly knocked out of the tournament by minnows, Niger after a 2-0 defeat in the quarter-final in Oran.

According to Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, the Ghana home-based team struggled to match the pace and stamina of the Nigeriens because they were older.
