Tanzania lost 2-0 to competition favorites, Senegal, on Sunday, June 23, before Kenya falling to Algeria by a similar scoreline.
As such, the two East Africa countries are aware a defeat will all but end their Africa Cup of Nations campaign in this particular fixture.
The two teams have had a long-standing football rivalry across all competitions, but it is Kenya who have a better head-to-head record.
Harambee Stars have won 20 out of the 44 meetings they have had, with 14 matches ending in a stalemate and Tanzania claiming 14 wins.

In the five most recent matches, Taifa Stars have come up against Kenya, they have won only once, lost twice and drawn once.
Meanwhile, tacticians from both teams have highlighted the significance of this fixture, with Kenya's Sebastien Migne insisting his wards are going for maximum points.
“I expect three points, a victory, it is Tanzania, of course it is a derby, but it will be a nice opportunity for us to bounce back,” Migne told Goal.
On his part, Tanzania's Emmanuel Amuneke conceded Kenya will not be an easy opponent, and they will have to be at their best to register good results.
The match will kick-off at 2300hrs (East Africa Time).
