The 28-year-old is not ready to sign a contract extension with the club as interests came in from England. Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly in the race for Djiku's signature.

The French-born Ghanaian could join any club in the summer window when his contract with Strasbourg expires in June.

Djiku has been a key player for Strasbourg since joining them five years ago.

He also played a pivotal role as Ghana qualified for the World Cup in 2022, playing two games at the tournament in Qatar.

Djiku reacts to World Cup exit

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that two days after Ghana's elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup, players of the national team have taken to various social media platforms to react.

While many shared their pride in representing the country, others were disappointed with the team's performance and have promised to bounce back strongly in the future.

The Black Stars were booted out of the tournament after a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Uruguay in their final group game at Al Janoub Stadium.

Djiku named Ghana best player

Rock-solid Strasbourg defender Alexander Djiku has been crowned Ghana's Player of the Year at the Ghana Football Awards held in Accra on Saturday night.

The French-born Ghanaian beat off competition from Arsenal star Thomas Partey, newly-signed Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Jojo Wollacot, Southampton's Mohammed Salisu and Daniel Amartey of Leicester City.

In a video posted on social media, the 28-year-old expressed delight in winning the award, thanking his club and national team teammates.
