  • Asamoah Gyan has shared his stance on the GOAT debate between Ronaldo and Messi.
  • The former Ghana striker believes Messi is a better team player than Ronaldo.
  • The two players share 12 Ballon d'Or awards between them.

Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan believes Lionel Messi is more talented than Cristiano Ronaldo.

The legendary Ghanaian forward insists he would rather have the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner as his teammate than the former Manchester United striker.

According to Gyan, both players are incredibly good, but Messi is naturally gifted while Ronaldo has worked hard to achieve his success.

"For me, I feel Messi is gifted. You need Messi in your team more than Ronaldo,” he told Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV as quoted by Pulse.

“I admire Ronaldo because of his hard work. He has really worked hard to get to where he is. He is someone who can't go two days without training because he would feel he can't play anymore but Messi can sit for two weeks and do a little shake-up and will still perform. So, there is that difference."
"I think Messi will be better in my team because he can take five players out easily," added Gyan.

Messi led Argentina to a third World Cup triumph after starring for the South Americans in Qatar late last year.

With both players at the twilight of their careers, the argument about who the greatest of all-time is continues to rage on.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo left Manchester United to join Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr in the winter transfer window.

Asamoah Gyan misses Castro

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana legend, Asamoah Gyan says he still misses his musician friend, Castro, who disappeared in 2014 while they were holidaying in Ada.

Castro and Gyan were good friends and even composed songs together, including the hit record African Girls.

However, eight years ago on July 6, the singer drowned following a jet skiing accident at the Ada Estuary in Ghana.

Ronaldo set for Al Nassr debut

Cristiano Ronaldo left Europe after his contract with Manchester United was terminated, following an explosive interview he did with British broadcaster, Piers Morgan.

The 37-year-old joined Saudi Arabia Pro League side, Al-Nassr on a two-and-a-half year contract worth €200m per year. He is yet to make his debut, due to a suspension he earned in England.

Al-Nassr manager, Rudi Garcia has confirmed the superstar's first game since his move to Saudi Arabia could be against Lionel Messi's Paris Saint-Germain, in a friendly against a combined starting 11 from Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal.
