FootballDani Alves: Brazil Icon Under Investigation After Alleged ‘Shameful’ Incident in Barcelona Nightclub
- Dani Alves, who now plays in Mexico for Pumas UNAM, is under investigation over improper conduct in a nightclub
- He became the oldest Brazilian to play in a World Cup match when he captained the Selecao in their final group game against Cameroon in Qatar
- The 39-year-old defender also holds the record for most career trophies with 43, slightly edging out ex-Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi
Former Barcelona full-back Dani Alves is under investigation over an allegation he improperly assaulted a woman in a Spain nightclub last month.
Spanish media had reported that a woman had accused the Brazil international of touching her beneath her underwear without consent at a nightclub.
Alves, who was part of Brazil's World Cup squad that exited at the quarterfinals, has denied any wrongdoing after Catalonia's Supreme Court confirmed the accusation.
“Barcelona investigating magistrate’s court number 15 has opened proceedings for an alleged crime of sexual assault due to a complaint presented by a woman against a football player for events that allegedly occurred at a Barcelona nightclub this past month of December,” the court’s statement reads via CNN.

Daniel Alves calls out Barcelona
Dani Alves has launched a scathing attack on Barcelona officials for poor communication surrounding his contract situation at the club.
Alves feels like the club does not value the club's legends like himself. He has been at Barcelona over two spells but is now a free agent after the club decided against renewing his contract.
And as Goal reports, Alves does not have an issue with being released but believes the club could have handled his exit in a more decent manner.

FootballAlves beats Messi to enviable record
