  • Former Barcelona defender Dani Alves has questioned Barcelona's handling of club's legends like himself after he was released for a second time
  • Whilst he admits that he needed to leave to pave way for the younger generation, Alves did not particularly like the communication around his departure
  • The Brazilian full-back first joined Barcelona in 2008 before leaving in 2016 and then returned for a second spell last year

Dani Alves has launched a scathing attack on Barcelona officials for poor communication surrounding his contract situation at the club.

Alves feels like the club does not value the club's legends like himself. He has been at Barcelona over two spells but is now a free agent after the club decided against renewing his contract.

The Brazilian was brought in as a stop-gap player for Xavi Hernandez last year and he went on to make 17 appearances in the La Liga. He wasn't registered for European competitions, where Barcelona were bundled out of the quarter-finals of the Europa League by eventual winners, Eintracht Frankfurt.

And as Goal reports, Alves does not have an issue with being released but believes the club could have handled his exit in a more decent manner.

I made it very clear that I wasn’t a 20-year-old anymore and that I wanted things to be done head-on. But this club has sinned in recent years. Barcelona don’t care about the people who made history for the club.

The 39-year-old is the most decorated player in world football as far as trophies are concerned. He has won 44 trophies for club and country since his debut. He did not, however, manage to add another trophy during his second spell with the Blaugrana.

Former Barcelona academy graduate killed in a hit and run incident

Sports Brief had earlier reported that former Barcelona academy player Carter Payne was a victim of a hit and run incident in the United States which has left him dead.

It was gathered that Payne suffered fatal injuries after he was hit by a car while he rode his electric scooter.

The tragic news was confirmed by his USL club Tormenta FC 2 in a statement claiming Payne was hit by a car while riding a lime scooter and was in critical condition.
