  • Ronaldo's former Man United teammate Wes Brown has made a honest admission about the Portuguese international's move to Al Nassr
  • Reports from Saudi Arabia suggest that CR7 will be earning £172m a year in a deal valid for two years
  • Before then, United parted ways with Ronaldo just before the 2022 World Cup on the back of his explosive interview with Piers Morgan

Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has explained why Cristiano Ronaldo failed to get European suitors after his acrimonious Old Trafford exit.

Ronaldo's fairytale return to United ended with a bitter taste in his mouth after the Red Devils came to the decision to part ways with the ex-Real Madrid superstar before his contract expired at the end of the season.

United arrived at the decision on the back of Ronaldo's explosive interview with ace British broadcaster Piers Morgan.

In the controversial interview with Morgan, the 37-year-old slammed the club, coach Erik ten Hag, owners the Glazers and former teammates Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney.

Since the interview and after an uneventful World Cup, Ronaldo has signed for Saudi Professional League side Al Nassr in a deal worth over 200 million euros, per GOAL.

Reflecting on CR7's move to the gulf region, Brown believes European clubs opted against signing the five-time Ballon d'Or winner because of his infamous interview.

"I’m not sure what clubs [were in] but the clubs he wanted to come in just didn’t. Ultimately, it is crazy money for him," Brown said via All Football.
"It will be a bit different for him, it will be a different experience for him. But regardless, he is a legend of the game and whatever people say, as a Manchester United fan, he will always be a legend at the club.
"We achieved so much when he was there, we have to wish him the best. There isn’t long left now, he just needs to enjoy it and play as much as we can.
"It is a bit different for him but it also depends on what the family all agree on."

Fans troll CR7 for joining Al Nassr

Sports Brief earlier reported that a section of football fans believe Cristiano Ronaldo's glittering career is fast heading to a ditch.

The homogenous statement stems from Ronaldo's move to Saudi Professional League side Al Nassr.

Ronaldo inked a mouthwatering two-year deal with the nine-time Saudi champions following his acrimonious exit from Manchester United in November.
