Chelsea's injury crisis continues to deepen as the club confirms Senegalese goalkeeper Edoaurd Mendy has undergone surgery on a fractured finger and will not be available for a foreseeable future.
The goalkeeper has not featured for Chelsea since returning from the World Cup where he reached the last 16 with African champions Senegal.
He has lost his place to Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga since Graham Potter took over, it also coincided with a timeout with a knee injury he was nursing during the managerial transition.
Statement by Chelsea on Mendy
Graham Potter has ten players out injured including Mendy, who is now set for a longer time out after operating his finger, as revealed on the club's Twitter.

''Edouard Mendy has undergone an operation on a fractured finger sustained in training this week. The 30 year old will work closely with the club's medical department during his rehabilitation phase,'' the club statement reads.
