  • Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has been offered by Chelsea to London rivals Tottenham, who are in search of a replacement for Hugo Lloris
  • Mendy could find himself out of the club, as he is currently second choice after losing the form that made him one of the best goalkeepers in the world
  • Tottenham are also looking at two other Premier League goalkeepers who are currently representing their country at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy could be set for a switch across London, after it emerged he could be sold to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to replace Hugo Lloris.

Lloris, who will be 36 in December, is his 11th season at the North London club and despite having a contract until 2024, Antonio Conte could be looking to replace him early.

Mendy is the current FIFA Best Goalkeeper, but a decline in form has seen him become number two at Chelsea behind Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, under new manager Graham Potter.

Mendy joined Chelsea in August 2020 and won the UEFA Champions League. He was offered a new contract with an improved salary in September which he rejected, according to Evening Standard.

The 30-year-old has now emerged as an option for Conte's Tottenham, to replace Lloris who could be nearing the end of his spell with the club, according to 90min.

The report also linked two other Premier League goalkeepers to Tottenham. The Spanish duo of Brentford's David Raya and Brighton's Robert Sanchez have also garnered interest from the Blues.

Raya and Sanchez are currently representing Spain at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Lloris is captaining France in their quest to defend the trophy they won in Russia in 2018.

Mendy blamed for Senegal loss

Sports Brief earlier reported that Chelsea fans heavily criticised Mendy for costing Senegal in their 2-0 loss to the Netherlands.

Despite missing Sadio Mane, the Lions of Teranga were on course to pick up a point, before Mendy failed to deal with an aerial ball which was headed home by Cody Gakpo. He was also held responsible for the second goal.

Fans took to social media after the disappointing loss for Senegal, blasting Mendy for his uninspired performance between the sticks.
