This comes at a time when Chelsea continues to struggle after his departure. Graham Potter's side fell to their sixth Premier League loss of the season, after a Riyad Mahrez strike helped Manchester City to a 1-0 win on January 5.

The west Londoners are currently languishing in 10th place in the Premier League.

Tuchel won three trophies during his 15-month stay at the Blues. He has previously admitted he was shocked by the nature of his sacking by the new Chelsea owners, who took over from Roman Abramovich.

Tuchel spotted in South Africa

Sports Brief had earlier reported that the former Chelsea manager was on holiday in Cape Town, on the coast of South Africa.

Tuchel was spotted in a photo on Twitter with a surfer fan, while out at one of the city's scenic beaches.

The London team showed the German tactician the door, in the aftermath of a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League back in September.

Fans want Tuchel for Amakhosi

It didn't take long for local football fans to come up with jokes about the reason Tuchel was in South Africa, Sports Brief also reported.

The former Chelsea coach was seen in a photo with a fan at one of the beaches in Cape Town, and South African football fans could not resist the opportunity to wildly speculate.

Many hoped the German tactician would end up coaching one of their favourite teams, including the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
