Lionel Messi has finally returned to Paris, ending his vacation on the back of Argentina's World Cup triumph.

The World Cup Golden Ball winner was given an extended vacation after playing a major role as Argentina dethroned France as world champions.

He departed for Paris in a private jet in the company of his wife Antonela Roccuzzo and three sons after celebrating last month's World Cup victory.

Messi finally arrived at PSG's Training Center on Wednesday morning as he gears up for club football, the club announced via social media.

In his absence, Les Parisiens needed a last-gasp penalty from Kylian Mbappe to secure a hard-fought 2-1 win against Strasbourg before crashing to an unexpected loss to RC Lens on New Year's Day.

What's next for Messi?

Messi is likely to miss out on PSG's Coupe de France tie against Chateauroux on Friday, January 6 but could be in line to feature against Angers on January 11.

The former Barcelona talisman is expected to sign an agreement with PSG in order to continue in Paris from June, when his contract ends, per AS.

Lionel Messi is on his way back to join his Paris Saint-Germain teammates, ending his vacation after the 2022 World Cup triumph.

Messi realized his lifelong ambition of winning the FIFA World Cup in the backend of 2022, inspiring Argentina to their third Mundial title.

Since achieving the Holy Grail in world football, Messi has been stationed in his native Rosario, basking in Argentina's World Cup glory across the festive period.

Al-Nassr boss jokingly claims he wants Messi

Sports Brief earlier reported that Al-Nassr manager Rudi Garcia has admitted that he wanted to sign Lionel Messi first, before signing Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo completed his switch to the Saudi Arabian giants last week after reportedly signing a two-year deal that will make him earn as much as £175m a year.

Al-Nassr boss Garcia said he attempted to sign Messi before eventually agreeing to settle for Ronaldo, as he joked with reporters ahead of their match against Al-Ta’ee on Thursday.
