  • The Gunners continued with their fine run of form as they hammered the Seagulls
  • The epic win helped Mikel Arteta's men open a seven-point lead atop the EPL table

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has lifted the lid on how his teammates reacted after Manchester City dropped points against Everton.

The Gunners have enjoyed a fine run of form this season, with the side losing just one Premier League match so far.

Mikel Arteta's men saw off Brighton in a fierce contest on Saturday, December 31, at the Amex Stadium.

According to Manchester Evening News, the win was enough to help Arsenal open a seven-point lead at the top of the standings.

Man City draws against Everton

Manchester City, who are the north Londoners' closest challengers for the title, had an opportunity to close the gap when they took on Everton earlier on Saturday, only for that chance to be fluffed.

The reigning champions were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by the Toffees at the Etihad Stadium, with Demarai Gray's second-half goal cancelling out Erling Haaland's opener.

Saka has now revealed that the result at the Etihad Stadium gave Arsenal an extra push to secure a comfortable win against the Seagulls.

"We just try and focus on ourselves, but when we heard that result, it gave us extra motivation to try and press on and get a result today," the Englishman told BBC Sport.

Thierry Henry hails Bukayo Saka

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on legendary striker Thierry Henry being impressed by Saka and his finishing instincts on Boxing Day.

Henry was on punditry duty, as Arsenal put on a spirited second-half performance to beat West Ham 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

English forward Saka has been on a steady rise in North London and has since become one of the brightest prospects in Europe, with his performances earning praise from the Arsenal legend.
