A rift has been reported between Karim Benzema and France Head Coach Didier Deschamps even as the defending champions prepare to face Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final.
Benzema was part of Deschamps' final squad to Qatar but had to return to Madrid after picking up a thigh injury. He has since recovered and could have been eligible to play on Sunday, December 18th.
GFF now reports that Benzema was unhappy with how he was treated when he got that injury. The Real Madrid captain reportedly wanted to hang around in Qatar and given a chance to recover to have a shot at playing but Deschamps sent him home.
LÉquipe adds that the reigning Ballon d'Or holder has not made an attempt to reach out to Deschamps or the squad after being sent home. The report further adds that Benzema feels wronged.

It remains to be seen how the duo will work around this given that Benzema was recently recalled back to the international fold after a long time out due to a blackmail case.
