“I know he wants to. I know that this is being considered. We will see if logistically and materially, all of this can land. In any case, it is the President’s wish to get them on board, so that they can fully take their part in this adventure,” Oudéa-Castera was quoted as saying.
Will Benzema play?
While Benzema may attend the final as a spectator, there are still questions about whether he will play in the game. The attacker is still registered with the French squad for the tournament and has returned to training with Real Madrid.
However, coach Didier Deschamps has refused to disclose whether Benzema will be a part of the squad for the final, Daily Mail reported.
Benzema could snub France return
Sports Brief also reported Benzema will not be rejoining the France squad ahead of the World Cup final this Sunday, December 18, despite being eligible to return.
Benzema left the France camp after he picked up a thigh injury on the eve of the tournament in Qatar, but the Real Madrid forward’s name remained on his nation's squad list.
According to the Daily Mirror, the 34-year-old forward has been left disappointed by Les Bleus coach Deschamps’ lack of enthusiasm about a potential reunion with Benz.
