France’s preparations for the World Cup final have suffered a setback, after their camp was hit with a breakout of the 'camel virus'.

Adrien Rabiot and Dayot Upamecano are already fighting to be fit ahead of Sunday's World Cup final against Argentina, after coming down with the virus.

According to the Daily Mail, Didier Deschamps has now confirmed that Kingsley Coman is the third French player suffering from the camel virus in Qatar.

Les Bleus had placed Rabiot in an isolated hotel in order to prevent the spread of the virus, but apparently that plan has failed after it spread to two more players.

Upamecano and Rabiot, who have been regulars in Deschamps' France squad up until the semi-final, were compelled to miss the 2-0 victory over Morocco due to the virus.

The so-called camel virus is a contagious illness associated with symptoms including coughing, difficulty breathing and fever.

Deschamps makes promise to Messi

Meanwhile, Didier Deschamps has vowed that France will do all that they can to make sure Lionel Messi's World Cup misery is sealed for good on Sunday evening, Daily Mirror reports.

Messi is bidding to win the World Cup for the first time in his career, but will need to navigate his way past Les Bleus in the final.

Both Argentina and France have won the Mundial twice and will be bidding to win a third title when both teams meet in the final on Sunday, December 18, at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.

Italian manager hails Rabiot's skill

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that a former Italy manager believes Rabiot is second in importance to France only to Kylian Mbappe.

Alberto Zaccheroni questioned why Juventus did not appreciate their French player enough, considering his performance at the 2022 World Cup.

However, some have rubbished his claims, mentioning the goal scoring contributions of Olivier Giroud and the goal assistance tally of Antoine Griezmann.
