Lionel Messi’s extraordinary feat at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar has seen the Argentina captain earn the “GOAT” status amongst his teammates and fans worldwide.

The 35-year-old has been one of the standout players at the World Cup as he guided Argentina to the final to be played against arch-nemesis France on Sunday, December 18.

According to Argentina goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, Messi remains the greatest of all time as the shot-stopper gave a subtle warning to France, Sportskeeda reports.

Martinez who admitted Argentina will face a quality team in France when they meet on Sunday, also bragged of the South American’s top defence in the tournament.

Argentina and France have been tagged as the two best teams so far in the tournament and one of them will be crowned as the world champions when the final is played this weekend.

Scaloni wants Messi to win World Cup

Meanwhile, Lionel Scaloni hopes Lionel Messi will on Sunday, December 18 lead Argentina to World Cup glory when they take on defending champions France, Football Espana reports.

Sunday’s final will be Messi’s 172nd cap for Argentina and Scaloni says it be great to see the 35-year-old sign off from the national team in style by winning the World Cup.

Messi has so far scored 5 goals for Argentina at the World Cup and will come face to face with Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe who is also France’s top scorer in the tournament.

Dembele claims Messi deserves to win the title

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Ousmane Dembele has saluted Lionel Messi ahead of the 2022 World Cup final claiming that the Paris Saint-Germain star made him fall in love playing for Barcelona.

Dembele joined Barcelona in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund and played alongside Messi for four seasons before the Argentine moved to PSG.

So far at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Dembele has been incredible for France and the French people will be relying on him and other teammates to shine in the final.
