  • Morocco's Youssef En-Nesyri has set an unwanted record in the World Cup semi-final
  • The striker touched the ball three times in 45 minutes against the defending champions
  • He lasted just 66 minutes and was unable to make significant impact for the Atlas Lions

Morocco striker Youssef En-Nesyri is responsible for holding an unwanted record at the World Cup, following his display in the semi-final against France on Wednesday, December 14.

En-Nesyri has been impactful for his nation throughout the tournament prior to their painful exit, as he scored what proved to be the winner against Portugal in the previous round.

But against France, he struggled on the pitch in many departments, including getting a hold of the ball at the Al-Bayt Stadium.

As reported by Daily Mail, the 25-year old, who is Morocco’s leading scorer at the tournament with three goals, was only able to touch the ball three times before coach Walid Regragui decided to haul him off in the 66th minute.

That stat will not be too painful for the 25-year-old however, considering the magnitude of the opponents the North Africans were facing.

France were not at their best on the night but managed to come out on top, thanks to goals from Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani.

Morocco were no pushover as they constantly attacked in the French box, but were consistently quelled by Hugo Lloris and company.

Muani’s goal late in the game proved to be the killer blow for the Atlas Lions, who will have to battle it out with Croatia for third place.

Amrabat’s Mbappe tackle goes viral

Sports Brief also reported on Sofyan Amrabat’s tackle on Kylian Mbappe, which left many fans in hysterics.

Throughout the tournament, Amrabat has earned loads of admirers for his displays in midfield, particularly against Spain in the round of 16.

When the pair came up against each other, Mbappe typically outpaced Amrabat, but the Fiorentina midfielder was not willing to give up the duel that fast.
