  • At 23, Kylian Mbappe has achieved a lot including winning a World Cup
  • He is on course to win his second World Cup in a row when France face Argentina in the final of the 2022 edition
  • By the time he retires he could've broken several records

Kylian Mbappe announced his arrival on the World stage during the 2018 World Cup where he starred in helping France secure their first trophy in two decades.

Since then, he has gone to cement his status as one of the best players in the world as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi exit the stage they dominated for over 15 years.

Here are seven records that the PSG superstar can break in his career, per Planet Football.

1. Most goals at the World Cup

Miroslav Klose has scored the most goals at the World Cup with 16 goals in 24 matches for Germany, meaning he averaged 0.66 goals for his country at the World Cup.

23-year-old Mbappe has nine goals in 12 matches meaning he averages 0.75 a game. If he maintains the same pace he will score 18 goals in the 24 games it took Klose to make that record.

2. French goalscoring record

Just Fontaine's record of 13 goals has stood in over six decades. It took him six matches at the 1958 edition to set that record.

The PSG superstar is four goals away from that record. Barring any injuries, Mbappe will certainly break that.

3. Scoring in multiple finals

Mbappe scored in France's 4-2 win over Croatia in 2018 final and he has a chance to score against Argentina on Sunday. In World Cup's 92-year history, only four players have scored in more than one final.

Brazil’s Vava is the only player to score in two World Cups in a row with goals in the 1958 and 1962 finals. Pele, Germany's Paul Breitner and Zinedine Zidane are the other players to score in multiple finals.

4. Longevity

Messi is the only player to score in his teens, twenties and thirties at the World Cup. Mbappe has checked two of those categories and if he plays in the 2030 edition and scores, he will be in elite company with Messi, per FIFA.

5. Most goal contributions

So far the former Monaco star has 9 goals and three assists in the two World Cups. Pele holds the record for most goal involvements with 20, followed closely by Messi with 19, per Goal.

The French star has one goal contribution per game and at that rate, he will smash it at some point.

6. Most wins in France jersey

The PSG winger has won 11 World Cup matches. Germany's Klose also holds the record for most wins with 17, a record Mbappe can reach.

7. Most appearances for France

Hugo Lloris has played the most World Cup matches for France at the World Cup with 18. Mbappe is just five games away from matching that record.

Lloris's career with France is nearly over as he's entering the other side of 30. He turns 36 this month.

Mbappe checks on distressed fan

Sports Brief earlier reported on Mbappe checking on a fan in the stands who was injured

The French attacker was spotted rushing off the pitch during France's warm-up session, to check on a fan in the crowd.

It was later confirmed that the fan was hit in the face by a wayward ball from the French squad's warm-up.
