The 33-year-old striker scored twice in the first half to earn Ecuador’s first win of the 2022 FIFA World Cup but Valencia has been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons in the past.
According to Give Me Sport, Valencia once faked an injury during a game to avoid getting arrested by police for unpaid child support worth over £13k.

Valencia had faked the injury while taking part in a World Cup qualifier for Ecuador vs Chile in 2016 when he was put on a stretcher and given oxygen after signaling, he was suffering from altitude sickness.
As many as 12 officers attempted to capture Valencia while he was being stretched off in a golf buggy, but the 33-year-old evaded the clutches of the police and escaped.
