Child support case

In 2016, Valencia was chased by police, despite being on a stretcher, in a bizarre child maintenance case.

The incident took place during a game against Chile, which ended in a comfortable 3-0 win for Ecuador.

As reported on Daily Star, at the time, lawyers were unable to detail the striker ahead of the Chille fixture, and he somehow was able to be selected in the match day squad.

During the game, Valencia went down injured and had to be stretchered off, and that is when drama ensued.

In interesting footage, Valencia was chased down by police officers, who struggled to catch up to the cart the striker was being ferried on.

The incident went viral on social media, with Valencia’s agent Gonzalo Vargas taking to Twitter to try to save his client’s face.

"Enner as a father has fulfilled, including legally he has fought to be able to have greater time with his daughter.” He tweeted.
"Unfortunately certain laws of our country have many gaps, where they sentence fathers who do their utmost for their children."

Valencia so far has 74 caps for his country, with 35 goals.

Benzema’s message after injury

Sports Brief also earlier reported on Karim Benzema’s classy but touching message after bowing out of contention for France’s World Cup squad through injury.

The 34-year-old sustained a serious thigh injury in training on the eve of the tournament which has ended his hopes of featuring for France.

Following the devastating news, Benzema took to Instagram to pen an emotional message:

"In my life I never give up but tonight I have to think about the team like I always do so the reason tells me to leave my place to someone who can help our team to make a great World Cup. Thank you for all your messages of support."
