Despite his recent attitude coupled with his explosive interview with the ace broadcaster, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner will be hoping to redeem his 'dying' image during the 2022 World Cup, which could be his last dance at the global showpiece.

He recently missed Portugal's comprehensive victory against Nigeria in their final warm-up game but will most likely start in his side's curtain-raiser against Ghana on Thursday, November 24.

When asked if he will consider retirement should the 2016 European champions win the World Cup, Ronaldo responded: "Yes. Retired, 100 per cent," as quoted by ESPNFC.

Portugal could drop Ronaldo in World Cup games

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Portugal boss Fernando Santos has hinted at possibly dropping embattled Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

So far this season, Cristiano only has three goals to his name as and his struggles have not been limited to the pitch alone.

Off the pitch, the 37-year-old is making headlines for his sensational interview with Piers Morgan, where he all but burned bridges with his current club Manchester United.
