Ansu Fati is feeling delighted after being selected by Luis Enrique to represent Spain at the 2022 FIFA World Cup for the first time in his career.

Fati’s World Cup hopes had been in doubt after witnessing his career take a downward spiral in the last two years following a knee injury he suffered in November 2020.

According to Goal, the 20-year-old who had not played for Spain since October 2020, has now described his call-up to Spain’s World Cup squad as a dream come true.

Fati will hope to play a key part for Spain as they begin their quest for a second World Cup title as Luis Enrique's side will take on Costa Rica, Germany, and Japan in Group E.

Meanwhile, Ansu Fati’s selection in Spain’s final 26-man World Cup squad by Luis Enrique has been described as a masterstroke by analysts, Football Espana reports.

Fati’s ability to play both through the middle and on the left is believed to be the vital reason the Barcelona forward was picked ahead of Borja Iglesias.

Spain boss, Luis Enrique has confessed that picking Fati is a big gamble on his part but has backed the Barcelona forward to have a great tournament in Qatar 2022.
