  • Pep Guardiola has waded into the debate surrounding Graham Potter's poor run of form at Chelsea
  • Potter has come under sharp focus with his side failing to produce desirable results despite a perfect start
  • Chelsea has a history of sacking managers as soon as they deem them not performing to the required standards

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has asked Chelsea owners to give Graham Potter time to implement his ideas at the club.

Potter was appointed in September and despite starting positively in London, results have not gone his way in recent times.

Chelsea was outclassed by Arsenal on Sunday, November 6th, to make it back-to-back losses after the Brighton humiliation the other weekend.

Under the previous regime of Roman Abramovich, Chelsea was known to be intolerant, and coaches would be sacked at the earliest sign of a dip in form. With Potter currently struggling to churn out desirable results, pressure is starting to mount on the English manager.

But ahead of Chelsea's visit to the Etihad Stadium to play in the third round of the Carabao Cup, Guardiola has called on Potter to be given time.

"I'm not the right person to say that because it's not my business. But if Chelsea accepts my humble advice with no intention, give him time and he will do well. I have a lot of admiration for his work. What he did at Brighton is beyond exceptional, and I'm pretty sure with time, he will do a good job. I don't have any doubts about this. It's the same with Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton," he said, as quoted by BeIN sports.

Potter accused of lacking charisma

Sports Brief had reported that Chelsea manager Graham Potter is on the spot again after the Blues suffered the second straight league defeat on Sunday, November 6th, to Arsenal, which means they have now lost three straight games to the Gunners at Stamford Bridge.

Ex-Chelsea midfielder Andy Townsend has called out Potter for lacking personality and charisma in his press conferences.

The Arsenal defeat was the first time the Blues lost two consecutive matches since 2020 under Frank Lampard. Chelsea fans were livid after the defeat directing criticism towards Potter for the disappointing loss.
