Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti could face a touchline after he blasted the match officials, following his side's 1-1 La Liga draw against Girona on Sunday afternoon.

The 63-year-old was incensed by referee Mario Melero Lopez’s decision to give a late penalty against Los Blancos at Santiago Bernabeu.

Lopez decided to award the spot kick, following a VAR check for a soft handball call against Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio.

Referee Lopez was again at the centre of controversy after he overturned a stoppage-time goal by Rodrygo for a supposed foul on the goalkeeper. He also sent off Toni Kroos in the final seconds of the game - the first red card of his career.

"It was not a penalty. The first situation is clear. The ball did not touch Asensio's hand. The referees have made it up," the Italian veteran said in his post-match press conference, via Marca.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Ancelotti could face an investigation by the RFEF Integrity Committee following his comments on the game.

He faces a four-match ban for speaking against the referee, per the reports.

Asensio could also be punished after he took to his official Twitter account to vent his fury over the referee's decision against him.

Hazard at loggerheads with Ancelotti

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Eden Hazard and Carlo Ancelotti are definitely in different lanes this season at Real Madrid, after a turbulent start to the season for the Belgian winger.

The 31-year-old has been relegated to the bench by Ancelotti following his struggles with injuries and poor form this season, and that has seemingly not gone down well with Hazard.

According to Tribal Football, Hazard is now not on talking terms with Carlo Ancelotti after being displaced from Real Madrid’s first team by the Italian manager.
