The Argentinian superstar has also expressed his happiness in France after a tough first year and is open to committing his future to the club.

The news will come as a blow to the Catalan club’s hopes. Barcelona are hoping to convince Messi to return to the club where he made his name instead.

Barcelona’s plan:

Club president Joan Laporta assured fans that he would do everything in his power to bring Messi back, even promising to build a statue of Leo outside Camp Nou.

A relationship strained:

Messi was originally keen on a return to the Spanish side, but his relationship has become strained with the club of late. Messi and the club were thrust into the spotlight when documents were leaked, detailing his contract demands to Barca to extend his stay a season before he left for PSG.
