Spanish giants Real Madrid have been named as the world's most valuable football club.
The Los Blancos have topped the Forbes' fresh list and are valued at $5.1 billion — $350 million more than last year. This means that Madrid's worth has gone up by 8 percent.
It is slightly higher than Madrid's arch-nemesis Barcelona, who are second on the list in terms of football clubs with a valuation of $5 billion, $100 million less than reigning European champions.
It is interesting to note that football teams have had a slight dip in terms of their positioning in the overall Forbes list that was published last year. But it appears Real Madrid and Barcelona have been able to increase their valuation.

English champions Manchester City ($4.25B) and French Ligue 1 title holders Paris Saint-Germain ($3.3B), failed to make it to the top 5, despite being owned by Sheikhs rather than club members, as in the case of La Liga sides.
Manchester United ($4.6B) and Liverpool ($4.45B) rank 3rd and 4th respectively.
Bayern Munich (4.26B) complete the top five most valuable football clubs while Chelsea are placed eighth.
