  • Newcastle and Liverpool’s technical bench clashed at the tail end of their Premier League clash on Wednesday
  • One member of the Newcastle’s staff appeared to throw an object Liverpool’s way
  • The FA has since opened investigations into the incident with possible fines on the horizon

One of the members of the Newcastle United technical bench appeared to throw something towards Liverpool faithful after the Magpies conceded a 98th-minute goal.

It was tensions galore on Wednesday night during the Newcastle-Liverpool game, which threatened to spill into mayhem at full time.

Youngster Fabio Carvalho was the one who inadvertently angered the away team with his last-grasp winner that helped Liverpool come from a goal down to claim all three points at Anfield.

There was some slight controversy, particularly towards the end as Newcastle fans felt the game should have ended minutes earlier but the referee played it all the way to the 98th minute.

But Liverpool fans will feel the minutes are fully justified as Newcastle players at some point resorted to time-wasting, prompting the ref to add on time.

The annoyance seemed to boil down to a member of the Newcastle technical bench who seemingly took matters into his own hands to show his disapproval.

Soon after, there was a brief melee between the two teams technical bench but it was almost immediately dispersed.

BBC Football further reports that the FA has since opened investigations into the incident.

What Klopp said

Speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp seemed to feel the time added on considering the amount of time Newcastle players apparently wasted.

"It's the perfect response to that. I am really happy about that." Klopp said, adding that "I don't know when the kicking the ball away stopped being a yellow card. When did this rule die?"
