  • PSG made a swift return to winning ways with a resounding victory over Toulouse on Wednesday evening
  • The 3-0 win for the Parisians means the defending champions share the top spot with Lens and fierce rivals Marseille - all with 13 points in as many games played
  • Neymar continued his purple patch form to the season as the Brazilian notched his seventh goal in five outings for Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain returned to winning ways when the Parisians dispatched Toulouse in a routine win on Wednesday night at the Stadium Municipal.

A goal on either side of halftime from forwards Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in addition to a stoppage-time strike from Juan Bernat handed Christoph Galtier's men all three points at stake.

Fresh after sharing the spoils with AS Monaco, the French champions began the game with their foot on the pedal as a lovely run from Mbappe saw the Frenchman in a 1v1 situation only for the Toulouse goalkeeper to come out on top in that duel.

It proved to be a warning signal from the visitors as they continued to probe for the opening goal, only to be met by an inspired goalkeeping performance from Maxime Dupe to repel the efforts of the Parisians.

However, Lionel Messi and Neymar will combine to a devastating effect as the latter rifled a powerful drive into the bottom corner to break the deadlock seven minutes after the half-hour mark.

Neymar's goal spurred PSG on but were strongly denied by a resolute defending from the home side.

Messi was in the thick of events once again as the Argentine playmaker found Mbappe inside the penalty area, who made no mistake to score from close range and stretch PSG's lead.

Despite incessant attacks by the enterprising and fluid attack comprising Mbappe, Neymar and Messi, PSG failed to put the icing on the cake.

When the third goal came, it was through an unlikely goal source - Juan Bernat, who slotted home from a rebound to put the final nail in the coffin as PSG returned to winning ways.

Neymar salvages draw for PSG against Monaco

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Paris Saint-Germain have dropped points for the first time this season after they were held to a 1-1 draw with Monaco.

The reigning French champions had won all three of their opening matches, with the last outing ending in a huge 7-1 win over Lille.

PSG were hoping to extend the winning run to four matches when they hosted Monaco at Parc des Princes on Sunday evening, August 28.
