Ronaldo missed out on Ten Hag's first preseason tour. Ronaldo then came off the bench in United's opening day loss to Brighton before playing the full 90 minutes in the demolition at Brentford.

He was then absent from the starting eleven against Liverpool in what is bound to cause a fresh stir of controversy. Givemesport reports that Ten Hag called the players for a two-hour meeting last week, days before their victory over Liverpool.

The former Ajax manager then proceeded to tell Ronaldo and captain Harry Maguire that they won't be a part of his starting lineup at Old Trafford.

The head coach is said to have invited opinions from the players; surprisingly, Ronaldo did not utter a word. The report further explains that Ten Hag wants Ronaldo to leave the club, believing it would suit both parties.

United ended up winning 2-1 to give Ten Hag his first competitive win as Red Devils boss.

Marseille President denies rumours linking Ronaldo with a move to the French club

At the same time, Sports Brief has reported that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be joining the French club Olympique Marseille this summer.

This is according to the club's President, Pablo Longoria, who denied reports linking the Manchester United star with a shock move to France.

It is in the public domain that Ronaldo has been looking for a way out of Old Trafford and Marseille had been touted as one of the possible destinations.
