It has now emerged that Erik ten Hag ordered Manchester United players to train on a day they were meant to rest.

Daily Mail reports that Ten Hag did away with the rest day of the players and made them run at least 13.8 kilometres in the sun.

The Red Devils were outrun by Thomas Frank's men as they soaked in four goals in the first 35 minutes. With the season now in full swing and fixtures coming in thick and fast, Ten Hag needs to find solutions.

They host Liverpool next, looking to banish the memories of last season where a Mohamed Salah hat trick led to an emphatic 5-0 victory for Jurgen Klopp's charges.

Ten Hag will also seek to answer questions about his starting eleven. New signing Lisandro Martinez has been targeted by players due to an apparent lack of height for typical centre-backs.

David de Gea looks shaky in goal, while Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford have lost their preseason form up front.

Erik ten Hag speaks after the embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Brentford

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has broken his silence after his side suffered a 4-0 embarrassing defeat to Brentford on Saturday, August 13.

The Red Devils were hoping to get their Premier League campaign back on track when they took on the Bees, having lost in their season opener against Brighton.

However, Ten Hag's charges continued with their woeful form at the Gtech Community Stadium as they were humbled by a resurgent Brentford side.
