Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford inspire Man United to victory

Ten Hag made some bold calls during Liverpool's meeting on Monday night, with the Dutchman benching Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo.

His team selection paid off in the 16th minute when Jadon Sancho broke the deadlock with a fine finish after he was set up by Anthony Elanga.

Bruno Fernandes nearly ruined United's brilliant start in the closing stages of the first half as he almost directed the ball into his own net before Lisandro Martinez chipped in with a clearance.

The second half of the match saw the hosts double their advantage through Marcus Rashford, who slammed the ball confidently into the bottom left after he was set up by Anthony Martial in the 53rd minute.

Efforts by Liverpool to stage a comeback paid off in the 82nd minute of the tie as Mohamed Salah drew one back with a powerful header.

The match eventually finished 2-1 in favour of United, who will now be hoping to build on the momentum.

Madrid chief Florentino Perez heaps praise on United-bound Casemiro

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has paid a glowing tribute to Casemiro as the Brazilian midfielder gets set to end his 9-year reign at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Casemiro accepted a dizzying financial offer and is now moving on to Manchester United after Real Madrid accepted the Red Devils’ offer of €70million plus a further €15 million in potential variables.

According to Football Espana and FOTMOB, Perez has labelled Casemiro as a role model for the younger players and revealed the Brazilian leaves Real Madrid as a club legend.
