Eto’o said, as per Football Ghana:

"First of all I feel at home, and I don't need a reason to be back home.
"However, I came with our brothers from Qatar for our national teams to get the best possible information so that they give us the best results and why not? Win the world cup for us.”

Fans react

And football fans have continued to react to the claims: One said:

"Like France winning the world cup with African players. Give them good facilities and a pitch. But no corruption in Africa is on another level."

Another wrote:

"Eto'o should definitely be an English football pundit, they have a lot in common."

A fan wrote:

"Africans have improved massively in the past few years, but I still think they are far away from a WC, Brasil and Argentina haven't been able to compete with Europe in the past few years despite having some of the best players it.

One tweeted:

"The only way Africans will be a force in a WC is if they retain their talent. Losing them to European sides it's costly that is resulting in African side having to settle for the second-best. As evident with France recent successes."

How Eto’o was welcomed in Ghana

Meanwhile, Samuel Eto'o, arrived in Ghana to work on his role as ambassador for the 2022 World Cup.

The former Barcelona forward touched down on Thursday with his entourage ahead of his meetings with stakeholders of football in Ghana.

The 41-year-old will meet the Ghana Football Association officials to talk about how the Black Stars can get a good tournament in Qatar.

Eto'o demands more respect for Okocha

Sports Brief earlier reported that Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o did not find it funny that Super Eagles legend Jay Jay Okocha did not get the deserved recognition during his playing days.

The FECAFOOT president believes Okocha deserved much more following his exploits for the Nigerian national team as well as the clubs he played for.

Eto’o insisted that Okocha remains one of the most skilful footballers ever and wondered how the midfield maestro never won the coveted CAF Player of the Year Award.
