Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp came to a passionate defence of Manchester United and its manager Eri Ten Hag, slamming ex Aston Villa star Gabby Agbonhalhor in the process.

United hit a new low on Saturday, August 13 as they lost 4-0 to Brentford as Ten Hag continues to look for his first win as the Red Devils’ boss in the league.

Brentford led through Josh Dasilva, before Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee and Bryan Mbuemo took the game beyond the Red Devils within 35 minutes.

As expected the club was ripped apart after the match, with many pundits concluding Ten Hag’s side was in shambles.

Among the football stakeholders who had something to say after the game was Aston Villa legend Agbonlahor, who boldly said Ten Hag should be sacked.

“This is not Manchester United,” he said on the Gameday Phone-In.

“If I was them now after this game I’d be thinking, ‘You know what, Ten Hag, just pack up’. He’s had pre-season and they have started the season as a shambles, they’re like strangers on the pitch...amateur from Manchester United."

Jurgen Klopp, whose Liverpool side face United in their next game, refused to pile more pressure on Ten Hag, instead choosing to slam Agbonlahor in his pre match presser.

"It was that bad," Klopp started as quoted on Manchester Evening News.
"I drove home, watched the first half here, drove home and coincidentally listened to talkSPORT. And Gabby... he lost against us 6-0 in my first year. I couldn't remember him as a 'mentality monster' on the pitch.
"What he said about United on that show... I was close to calling in and telling him: "You have forgotten completely that you have been a player'. It is unbelievable. If ex-players are going like this, you can imagine how everything else is going."
