  • Pogba could possibly miss the start of the season in Turin
  • The Frenchman picked up an injury and is set to undergo further tests
  • He rejoined Juventus as a free agent in a four-year deal after leaving Manchester United

Juventus ace Paul Pogba has suffered an injury setback as the club revealed he would not be travelling with the rest of the squad for a preseason friendly in Dallas.

The Frenchman will effectively miss the clash against Barcelona on Tuesday, July 26, as he undergoes tests to determine the extent of the injury.

He came back to Juventus, a club he initially played for between 2012 and 2016, with lots of enthusiasm and hope, but it seems he will have to wait a while longer to feature for the Turin giants.

Pogba has however already made his debut for the club, as he got the nod to start in a 2-0 friendly win over Mexican side Guadalajara in Nevada.

As reported by BBC, Juventus have now confirmed that Pogba will not travel with the rest of the squad to Dallas, and will instead be sent to a knee specialist.

“Following complaining of pain in his right knee, Paul Pogba underwent radiological examinations that revealed a lesion of the lateral meniscus,” Juventus said in a statement on Monday night.
“In the next few hours he will undergo a specialist orthopaedic consultation. Therefore, in order to continue treatment, he is not taking part in the trip to Dallas.”

What Pogba’s injury means for Juventus

Pogba’s injury comes at a horrible time for The Old Lady, who are still in the process of trying to offload some players.

Massimiliano Allegri is keen on doing away with both Arthur Melo and Aaron Ramsey, with Paris Saint Germain’s Leandro Paredes seen as a potential replacement.

Juventus start their Serie A campaign on August 15 against Sassuolo, and Pogba now has three weeks to regain his fitness.

Di Maria wiped out by referee in friendly

Elsewhere, Angel Di Maria had a debut to forget for Juventus as he collided with the referee in a bizarre accident.

In their first game of the preseason, the Bianconeri showed glimpses of their class as they cruised to a 2-0 victory at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

But in arguably the most memorable moment of the match, Di Maria nearly suffered a horrific injury, and the man responsible was none other than the referee.

The ref, unfortunately, could not get away in time and his momentum went right into the Juventus winger, who went sprawling to the ground.
