The Super Eagles striker rose to the occasion last season with Napoli after leading them to their first league title in 33 years, a feat that has earned him legendary status at the club.

Cameroon legend, Eto'o, is arguably the most decorated African footballer ever. His success at Barcelona and Inter Milan remains unmatched.

The Nigerian is the best player in Africa and one of the best strikers in the world. His numbers have dropped this season, and he is likely to leave when the season ends.

The former Lille man has a chance to win more silverware wherever he goes. PSG, Chelsea, and Arsenal have been linked with the striker. How does his numbers look compared to Eto'o's at 25 years old?

Samuel Eto'o: an overview of his career

The Cameroon legend moved to Europe in 1997, when Real Madrid signed him. However, he struggled to make an impression at the club, resulting in three loan transfers.

In 2000, he was permanently sold to Real Mallorca. At the club, his rise to superstardom began. He spent five seasons (including on loan in 1999/00) at Mallorca, and his numbers were impressive.

In those seasons, he scored six, 11, six, 14, and 17 La Liga goals. That last season in 2003/04 earned him a move to Barcelona, where he took his game to a new level.

At the Catalans, he teamed up with Ronaldinho and an up-and-coming Lionel Messi. Goals and trophies soon followed.

Eto'o turned 25 on March 10, 2006. Therefore, we'll look at his stats up to the end of the 2005/06 campaign.

In the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons, he registered 25 and 26 La Liga goals, respectively. In 2004/05, he registered 29 goals and seven assists in 45 games in all competitions.

The following season, he had 34 goals and 10 assists in 47 appearances. That campaign, he won the La Liga Golden Boot, La Liga, Champions League, and the Spanish Super Cup.

By the end of the 2005/06 season, the 43-year-old has scored 133 goals in nine seasons in top-flight football.

The Cameroonian had already won two AFCON titles with the Indomitable Lions. He would go on to win more trophies at Inter Milan. He retired in 2019, per ESPN.

Victor Osimhen's career so far

The Super Eagles star has probably reached a world-class level. He moved to Europe in January 2017 and joined German side, Wolfsburg. Things didn't work out for him at the club.

He made three appearances in his first season and didn't score a goal. In the 2017/18 season, injuries limited him to 13 appearances, and goals were hard to come by.

In August 2018, the club shipped him to Belgian side, Charleroi, to help him find his feet in Europe. In Belgium, goals finally came. In the 2019/18 season, he bagged 20 goals in 36 appearances.

In 2019, he secured a permanent move to the Belgian club. That year, French club, Lille, paid €22 million to acquire his services.

Osimhen scored 18 goals in his lone season in France, which prompted Napoli to pay a club-record fee to secure his services in 2020.

The 25-year-old is now in his fourth season with the club. The 2022/23 season is his best campaign by some distance. He became the first African to win the Serie A Golden Boot. He also delivered a league title for the first time in three decades.

The Super Eagles man has played seven seasons of top flight football in Europe. He has registered 114 goals and 28 assists in 221 appearances in all competitions.
