An Ethiopian goalkeeper has gone viral after footage of his acrobatic stunt caused a penalty against his team in the Ethiopian Premier League in June 2022.

Harriston Hessou who is the goalkeeper for Bahir Dar City escaped being sent off after he conceded a penalty in the most bizarre fashion.

The Bahir Dar City goalkeeper acrobatically caught an opponent who plays for Saint George with his studs as he tries to regather the ball in a league game Sports Bible reports.

The center referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot as the player collapsed in agony however Hessou was lucky as the resultant spot-kick was missed by Saint George.

The game would eventually finish 2-2 as both teams shared the points in the league fixture but that didn’t stop Saint George from being crowned champions of the Ethiopian League.

Meanwhile, a South African club has been given a lifetime ban from football after they were found guilty of match-fixing in the lower tier of the league.

Nsami Mighty Birds were involved in a game where they lost 59-1 with the South African fourth-tier team conceding 41 own goals in the process Daily Express reports.

Nsami Mighty Birds have now been banned alongside Matiyasi FC, Shivulani Dangerous Tigers, and Kotoko Happy Boys following a succession of jaw-dropping score lines.

The Sierra Leonean Football Association has now opened an investigation into the result of both games while declaring that all clubs involved are now subjects of interest.
